Pat Seymour’s collection (In chronological order).
Chronological you say? That’s impressive! Filing compilations must be a total pain. I’d be interested to see how my collection looks in this regard, but if i’m in the mood for a specific record, I’m not sure I want to look up what year it was released to be able to find it on my shelf.
Undoubtedly, as this tumblr continues, we’ll keep harping on the greatness of the Expedit shelf. This photo however shows one of its shortcomings…it’s not a great book shelf by any means. Records yes, books no. There is however a slightly redesigned 2x4 Expedit that has the shelf slats in a different array and does work pretty well for records/books combo collection. Hopefully we’ll see some other photos of that in action soon.

This submission by jmitsudavis is a real beaut! Look at how unbelievably clean and organized those records look, and there’s only a few things on top of the shelf. Very nice indeed. Bonus nerd points for the subtle inclusion of comic book trades on the shelves as well. Also love the extra “Miles Davis” display. Classy! You may notice a lot of folks that use the Expedit putting records on display in the front, which is akin to a super fun window display type way to show off your collection whenever you have guests over, or a great way to celebrate a season, favorite artist etc.
Despite how pretty the overall collection looks in terms of layout, there’s absolutely no way that I would have the restraint to have only the 2x4 expedit with a bunch of open wall space above. I am a collector after all, and after a while wall space becomes premium and the only way to expand is by going up!
